POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a crucial member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Manager assumes a pivotal role in orchestrating the seamless delivery of care within our facility. Tasked with upholding rigorous standards of practice, they meticulously ensure that every aspect of patient care aligns with established protocols, guaranteeing safety, appropriateness, and fiscal responsibility. Beyond this, they bear the responsibility of nurturing a dynamic and proficient workforce through adept supervision and fostering continuous professional growth among staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCIONS:
- Serve as a professional role model.
- Direct and participate in the development and implementation of unit goals.
- Establish and maintain unit-specific Quality Assurance and Improvement Activities.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure an integrated approach.
- Ensure compliance with TITLE 22, OBRA, and other regulatory requirements and standards.
- Stay updated on trends in long-term care.
- Act as a resource and role model for staff.
- Plan, evaluate, and recommend changes to programs as needed.
- Regularly evaluate resident care.
- Participate in relevant committees.
- Evaluate staff knowledge and skills, and provide appropriate in-service training.
- Maintain a safe working environment for residents and staff.
- Provide coverage for the unit as needed due to staffing requirements.
- Conduct routine performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
- Monitor, counsel, and document staff performance.
- Participate in staff hiring and orientation, as well as ongoing education.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current and active California licensure as a Registered Nurse; BSN preferred.
- Nursing License required, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- 3 years of nursing or social work experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
- 1 year of staff supervision experience.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations, CMS guidelines, and regulations pertinent to completing MDS assessments.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, and all levels of the organization.
- Accurate, concise, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.
- Fine motor skills.
- Visual acuity.
- Ability to perform tasks listed above with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
