EHR Application Analyst

Department: JHRC- Information Svcs., Technical

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The EHR Application Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, designing, and modifying EHR (electronic health records) software applications and integrations. This includes encoding, testing, debugging, and installing software modules to support implementation. They consult with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. Additionally, they write documentation describing program development, logic, coding, and corrections.

This role is highly independent and may involve assuming a team lead role for specific work groups. The EHR Application Analyst works on complex technical and business matters, requiring at least 5 years of experience.

In this position, the EHR Application Analyst will collaborate with operations leads and end users to optimize a recent implementation of PointClickCare.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop training materials, handouts, and instructional/reference materials as needed for staff.
  • Provide daily support and troubleshooting for PointClickCare and related systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of applications, integrations, daily healthcare setting needs, and policies/procedures.
  • Shadow workflow practices to identify potential process improvements within PointClickCare.
  • Collaborate with leadership and staff to translate clinical requirements into PointClickCare specifications.
  • Administer general system configuration within the EHR.
  • Ensure security roles provide minimum required access, collaborating with Clinical and IT departments.
  • Evaluate team requests for process improvements/system enhancements in PointClickCare.
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements/formats.
  • Improve systems/processes through research, design modifications, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and IT team members.
  • Maintain system protocols, recommend controls, and write improved procedures.
  • Ensure information confidentiality adherence (HIPAA guidelines).
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information/trends.
  • Test new features and facilitate system update rollouts.
  • Perform thorough user acceptance testing on PointClickCare enhancements.
  • Coordinate testing findings with clinical and finance teams.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with department heads.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with technical resources within the vendor ecosystem.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Maintain professional/technical knowledge through education, workshops, publications, and networks.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum three years’ recent PointClickCare system management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Systems or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience working with Nursing and support departments in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with roles of Life Enrichment, Social Services, Therapy, Dining services, etc., in relation to PointClickCare.
  • SQL query development and familiarity with Data Relay for custom reporting desired.
  • Nursing experience preferred.
  • Current knowledge of project management principles/software.
  • Strong knowledge of business software and automation trends.
  • Technical documentation experience is required.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices.
  • Basic computer hardware/software skills including PCs, MS Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent follow-through and detail skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into technical requirements/products as required.
