Creative Arts Specialist

What you’ll do as a Creative Arts Specialist:

This role is responsible for planning and conducting meaningful, interactive and engaging creative arts (painting, crafting, sculpting, etc.) programming for the Jewish Home residents and patients. Some other duties include:

  • Providing opportunities for socializing and encouraging relationships among residents and patients.
  • Working in collaboration with the Director of Life Enrichment to develop and offer creative arts programming that incorporates industry best practices, effective methodologies, and innovative techniques.
  • Partnering with Life Enrichment Coordinators to offer unit-based creative arts programming.
  • Creating a positive, educational, caring, and stimulating environment.
  • Re-motivating residents to become actively involved in life, by offering meaningful creative arts programming that emphasizes their physical and mental strengths.

For you to be a successful as a Creative Arts Specialist you will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in an area related to the position (art, recreational therapy, geriatrics, education).
  • Two years of experience working within a geriatric group and/or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching art in a group setting
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, customs, and traditions- preferred but not required.
  • A sound group work, organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend, verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Creativity& flexibility; be energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and an innovative thinker.
  • Proficiency skills with computers and applications
  • Sensitivity to varying levels of physical and emotional health.

This role is part-time (20 hours) and will work 16 hours with Jewish Home and Rehabilitation & 4 hours with Frank Residences, Assisted Living. Both facilities are in a shared campus.

Pay range is $26.00 - $28.00 hourly.
